Use Of An S-Curve
One way to make your photos more interesting is to make use of man-made or natural "S-Curves". This technique has been used widely as it effectively draws the viewers eyes along an S or any general zig-zag line. Using this technique effectively ensures for a more interesting photo as it allows a challenge to be posed towards the viewer to follow the line through the image. Examples of S-Curves would be rivers, roads or an general man-made structure which resembles a zig-zag line.
Example One
This image is a good example of effectively using S-Curves in photos as the point of interest is clearly the crack in the concrete and has formed a zig-zag line allowing the viewer's eyes to follow the intricacy of the line. The background is rather plain so it brings out the thin dark line to make it the point of interest in the image.
Example Two
This photo is another example of the use of an S-Curve because it shows that man-made zig-zag shape like the side of these stairs can still make effective use of the S-Curve technique in the way that it makes the viewer follow the line with their eyes making the photo more interesting to look at.
