Disappearing Lines Into Corners
Disappearing lines into corners is another commonly used photographic technique used by professional photographers. It is similar to leading lines in the way that it uses man made or natural "lines" to lead the eye but the only difference is the line usually curves off to the side and out of sight. This adds some perspective to the photo and in a way, a sense of mystery, as the line simply disappears away from view. It is an effective technique because it draws the views eye along the line and leaves the viewer wondering where the line led to.
Example One
This is a good example of the Disappearing Lines Into Corners technique as the main concrete line in the photo is obvious yet it continues swerving until it disappears out the side of the photo. It is effective because the line stands out and leads the eye to the side of the photo allowing the viewer to survey the whole photo while concentrating on the single line.
Example Two
This photo is a good example of the Disappearing Lines Into Corners because it clearly shows the rail of the stairs continuing down the photo until it swerves off to the left and cuts off at the end of the photo. This made for an interesting image as it drew the eye of the viewer along the line until it disappeared.
